We were awarded our Travel Mark Level 3 in March 2013 which celebrated the whole school community work on gaining warning flashing lights to slow traffic on the lane, a zebra crossing, a school safety zone and an excellent lollipop lady. Living Streets and British Rail have also supported our journey to safe and sustainable travel.
The start of the academic year of 2014 we worked with the Substrans charity to promote travelling actively to school on foot, on bicycle or on a scooter. We have hosted a free 'Bike It' breakfast and many children are taking part in a 'Wheelie Wednesdays' after school club on their bicycles.
Year 6 took part in Bikeability in November 2014 to enable them to be safe and seen on the roads. Governors, staff and children are looking forward to an active year ahead.
The children took part in a range of activities during 2014, namely:
- Be Safe, Be Seen
- Design an outfit
- Be a Bright Spark
All to help keep them safe on dark mornings and evenings.
The start of 2015 saw many, many children walking to school in Happy Feet! Promoting walking by wearing our favourite, sensible footwear to school was very popular. Please see our attachments and photos below.
Well done everyone!
